A friend from church has a son who needed some workshop help to make a Bible stand for a large family Bible. This will be a gift to the father for Christmas 2003. We finished the project on 20031221.

The fellow has applied some tung oil in a wiping varnish and it looks great. The stand itself is made of some four- or five-year old walnut. The lip that will keep the Bible from slipping off the stand is some curly maple that Home Depot didn't know it had. It practically glows with the oil on it. The breadboard edges are pinned with 1/8" brass. The stand is angled at approximately 20^o.
