About the Banner

We're about half-way through winter and it's been a sloppy one so far. More rain than anything else, but we have gotten some snow. I'm bringing back this snowy picnic table from a while back. Yes, it's from my back yard. (01/28/2012)

Today marks the beginning of winter for us and already we've had three inches of snow. And today it's 61°F and raining. So I'm bringing back this snowy photo from a few years ago. (12/22/2011)

We're a month and a half into fall and I'm back out at my favorite place to hike, picnic and solo camp, Beaumont Scout Reservation. This was taken north of the lake, from the Augustus Training Center. (11/01/2011)

Just a few days short of fall and I'm headed out to this lake for the weekend. In Ashtabula County, I recently learned that they took 27 beavers from the four ponds at this Boy Scout Camp. (09/20/2011)

Now we're deep into summer and this rolling field of grass and flowers seemed like a good place to have a picnic recently. You can find this spot on the west bank of Lake Klein in Beaumont Reservation, near Rock Creek, Ohio. (08/08/2011)

Summer has been on the calendar for almost a week but the actual weather in northeast Ohio can't seem to make up its mind. With Independence Day right around the corner, I thought this flag banner was appropriate (although the leafless tree in the background seems to indicate an early Winter date). (06/27/2011)

This Spring (2011) has been a wet one in northeast Ohio and we took advantage of the nice weather on Mother's Day to get out to Forest Hill Park. This banner was taken looking north past the benches on the Sledding Hill, the site of Rockefeller's summer home.

Even though it's not Winter yet (12/15/2010), it has felt like Winter for a few weeks already in northeast Ohio. The new banner was taken through our back window at a D5-5a sign we had made for us a few years back. It now graces our back fence.

This fall's (11/30/2010) banner was taken years ago on a hike in some woods in Vienna, Virginia. I like it because that's Dad on the right and one of his grandchildren on the left. And they're definitely off on an adventure somewhere.

This summer's (8/6/2010) banner is from a picnic table outside an ice cream shop (the North Benton Dairy Bar) near Berlin Yacht Club (on Berlin Reservoir) taken last summer.

The even-later spring (6/8/2010) banner is from Beaumont Scout Reservation's Twin Ash campground. We were doing some campsite improvements this past weekend and found this fawn sleeping in the woods.

It's now late spring (5/23/2010) and this new banner is of the dirt road leading to McMillan Woods Youth Campground at Gettysburg National Military Park.

This spring's (3/25/2010) banner is from Daffodil Hill in Lakeview Cemetery in early 2009. There are reportedly over 100,000 bulbs on this hill.

The current (1/25/2010) banner is from a winter car ride some Sunday in 2008 or early 2009 on Ohio Route 44 approaching Johnnycake Ridge Road near Painesville. The view is to the west.

The current (11/8/2009) banner is from a photo taken at Mount Vernon in the fall some years ago. The picture was taken of the trees past the field to the northwest of Mount Vernon.

The current (10/26/2009) banner is from a photo taken at Greater Cleveland Council's Beaumont Scout Reservation in the fall of 2007. Looking west from the Augustus Center, these trees were touched by the sun early one morning with an ominous sky in the background.

The inaugural banner is from a picture of the Everett Road Covered Bridge in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It is accessible by hiking the Buckeye Trail.
